Electric Cars

The electric car market is growing quickly, with more than 164,100 pure-electric cars on UK roads at the end of September 2020 – and over 373,600 plug-in models including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). Registrations for pure-EVs in the first nine months of 2020 are up 127% compared to 2019.

The government has very recently committed to banning sales of new fossil-fuelled vehicles by 2030, a whole decade earlier than the previous target. But we are far from leading the market in EV production and this target is not as ambitious as other countries’ targets. There is a need for the UK to expand it’s EV infrastructure and now is a great opportunity businesses to show their green credentials.

The UK Government offers grands up to £3000 off the price off a brand new low -emission vehicles. On top of this through the Office for Low Emission Vehicles OLEZ you can claim a grant towards the cost of purchasing and installing a home charging point and the separate Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) offers grants to any business, charity or public authority toward the cost of charging points.
